Reasons to submit your abstract:

  • Exposure:
    Your research will be exposed to 300+ of representatives from industry and academia
  • Verbal and poster presentations available:
    Feel comfortable putting your own research forward, however there are circumstances where participants may lack the confidence to present verbally. In addition to the oral presentations, there are also poster sessions where authors are not required to present to a large audience
  • Career advancement:
    Become the type of person that gladly steps up to talk, will ‘enable you to earn more, build your business or get promoted quicker, and your personal brand will be boosted to new and greater heights
  • Catch up with industry trends:
    If it’s happening in our industry, it will be talked about at these events – and if it’s talked about at these events, then you need to know about it. Furthermore, there is no better opportunity to discuss the outcomes of the sessions, then to do so immediately with likeminded industry colleagues. Learn and build your network? Abstract topics

Please choose the best-fitting abstract topic. The Scientific Committee has derived thematic tracks:

1: Microalgae research and development - from genetics to cultivation

2: European developments in microalgae - novel approaches, products, processes

3: Biorefineries - combining commodities with high value products

4: Life cycle assessments, energy balances, techno-economic studies, resource assessments, locations

5: Animal and aquaculture feeds

6: Macroalgae research and development - from genetics to cultivation

7: Algae and agriculture: biostimulants, biofertilizers

8: Environmental applications: wastewater treatment and water recycling, nutrients and water recycling. CO2 utilization and abatement

Call for abstracts guidelines


The text must be formatted in Arial for text (other are not allowed). The abstract text may not be longer than a maximum of 250 words.


Authors may include a maximum of one picture or graph or one table (of up to ten rows x ten columns) per abstract. Words within the table count towards the total maximum of words allowed.


Abstract titles must be submitted according to the general rules. Abstract titles will be proofread. 

Presentation types

You can make your preferred selection of the following presentation types ( oral, poster presentation). Please note that the programme committee may or may not follow your preference; the final presentation type will be communicated after the selection.


Authors are asked to enter 5 keywords to better define the abstract content.

Submit your abstract

You can save your abstract one time only. Please make sure to have all fields completed before you finally submit your abstract. You will receive a confirmation by email after the submission (please make sure to state your correct email address!). Changes in the abstract title are not possible after submission. Please note that emails regarding the submission will be sent to the corresponding author. 

Notifications of acceptance/non-acceptance will be sent to the corresponding author via e-mail no later than  October 30, 2019.

Presenting author(s) of accepted abstract must confirm their attendance after acceptance of their abstract within 3 days and must be registered for the conference (before 30 October 2019).

Your poster, PDF or PowerPoint presentation and your full abstract will be made publicly available through AlgaEurope 2019 Conference website after the conferences. Next to that you agree with publication of your photo/video/presentation through the AlgaEurope 2019 website.

Data protection: By registering as an author and by submitting an abstract to AlgaEurope 2019, authors agree that DLG Benelux may use the personal data submitted for the purposes of managing AlgaEurope 2019.

Abstracts not adhering to these guidelines will be rejected. The final decision about acceptance of an abstract will be taken by the AlgaEurope Scientific Committee. AlgaEurope does not correspond on the reasons for acceptance/rejection of an abstract.
