We design and manufacture tailormade and turnkey microalgae photobioreactors that are scalable and easy to operate We customize our innovative basic modular system according to your wishes and budget. We deliver all over the world. Being one of the key pioneers resulted in patented solutions that truly distinguish our GemTubes™ from other tubular PBRs.

We’re proud of what Wavywind™ and Bubblebrush™ contribute to microalgae cultivation.

Our core competence includes the design of both the technical details as well as the biochemical process. Our experience is at your disposal. We cooperate with leading firms for the supply of components and the installation.

Algoliner developed a new and highly efficient production method for solid tubular PBR’s made out of PMMA. We are combining three development evolution steps at the same time. Instead of assembling pipe segments with joints to one large pipe system, we produce them on site. The profiles are not just pipes but having a hanging device attached. Since we hang the profiles, we reduced the wall thickness dramatically which saves more than half of the raw material. Finally we combined the profile production with their assembling in a rack system on site, which is saving a lot of manpower.

As a result we are able to realize PBR’s which are designed for a lifetime of 20 years for ultimate low costs compared to all other known methods.

BUGGYPOWER is a biotech company focused on producing high quality marine microalgae biomass with high nutritional properties as PUFAs, pigments, vitamins, essential amino acids, and minerals. The company holds a highly qualified and multidisciplinary team of people including professionals from different areas of knowledge as biology, engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, veterinary, pharma, etc. which allow to find comprehensive solutions and products of high-added value.

TMCI Padovan is a company that made history in the food and beverage technology sectors. For many application fields, in particular filtration, TMCI Padovan has become synonymous itself of the product category. Especially in recent years, the company focused itself on research and development, putting effort in technical and technological border scopes, in order to be a landmark in the market for worldwide customers.

We believe that one of the main challenges that our economy and all the companies need to deal with is the respect for the environment.

Therefore, since many years, it invests in dedicated research projects, also in cooperation with the best universities. The focus is on maximizing the energy efficiency in each process, plant and machine, having with final goal the principles of the circular economy. Being part of a global and ethic objective motivates us to give the best of ourselves.

Varicon Aqua is the manufacturer of the Phyco-™ range of photobioreactors and the Cell-Hi line of algal nutrients. Based in the UK our team has more than 30 years’ of experience in design, consulting, construction and deployment of algae photobioreactors and aquaculture production systems worldwide. To date we have deployed over 200 photobioreactor systems across the globe, ranging in scale from 5 L to 400,000 L. We provide both laboratory and industrial scale platforms for the cultivation of algae to a broad range of commercial and academic partners. To this end we employ a dedicated team of technicians, researchers, engineers and biologists who understand algal bioprocesses; from wastewater treatment to bulk and high value production. This unique experience gives us a competitive advantage when working with clients, allowing us to specify bespoke photobioreactor systems for a wide range of applications. We pride ourselves on our ability to support our clients from inception through to commissioning and commercialisation

Xanthella is a company specialised in the design and the manufacture of photobioreactors for the culture of photosynthetic cells like microalgae or cyanobacteria. Xanthella works with some of the finest research laboratories in Scotland to develop reliable, flexible and affordable PBR from lab to industrial scale. Xanthella’s photobioreactors provide perfectly controlled culture conditions (pH, temperature, light intensity, light dark cycle, mixing) to perform accurate research experiments and to produce a quality constant biomass. The affordability of our lab scale system, the microPharos PBRTM will help to boost and to speed up the research on the photosynthetic cells. It has been tested and validated our industrial 700L PBR, the Pandora PBRTM, has been developed in the frame of circular economy projects to use renewable energies directly where they are produced. Its low footprint and its internal LED light supply allow to reach high productivity in small area. It can be used for many applications from the production of food supplement or feed for aquaculture to the waste water treatment.

Xanthella was founded in 2009 by Dr Douglas McKenzie. It is located at Oban in the west coast of Scotland at the European Marine Science Park.

aquila biolabs is a German biotechnology start-up company focusing on the development of innovative laboratory devices for the automated biomass monitoring and feeding in shake flask cultures as well as bioreactors.

Our founding idea was a product for hassle-free biomass sensing, the Cell Growth Quantifier (CGQ). The CGQ is a sensor-based technology that offers highly parallelized, non-invasive online monitoring of biomass in shake flasks and other cultivation vessels. Now, this system can also be utilized for bioreactors with our newly developed CGQ BioR.

Our second product line, the Liquid Injection System (LIS), allows for automated feeding of liquids in shake flasks. This automated miniature pump is the first commercially available technology of its kind and can be used for a broad range of applications.

aquila biolabs was founded in 2014, is located in Baesweiler and was ranked among the TOP 10 start-ups in Germany in 2015.

A4F is a biotechnology company, with more than 20 years of accumulated experience in microalgae Research & Development and microalgae production (up to industrial scale). A4F is specialized in the design, build, operation and transfer (DBOT) of commercial-scale microalgae production units, using different technologies that better adapt to our Customers’ business.
Complementing our long experience, A4F distinguishes itself through its methodology which includes scaling-up from prototypes in our Experimental Unit in Lisbon to large-scale facilities. Additionally, A4F also develops standard operating procedures for optimized microalgae production, according to production goals and with industry best practices.
A4F has a very close relationship with the leading research groups in national and international universities and institutes in microalgae biotechnology (and related R&D fields), as well as with the largest microalgae producers worldwide.
This positions A4F as the first choice for any large-scale contract as the best specialist company in microalgae production.
