Algoliner developed a new and highly efficient production method for solid tubular PBR’s made out of PMMA. We are combining three development evolution steps at the same time. Instead of assembling pipe segments with joints to one large pipe system, we produce them on site. The profiles are not just pipes but having a hanging device attached. Since we hang the profiles, we reduced the wall thickness dramatically which saves more than half of the raw material. Finally we combined the profile production with their assembling in a rack system on site, which is saving a lot of manpower.
As a result we are able to realize PBR’s which are designed for a lifetime of 20 years for ultimate low costs compared to all other known methods.

Xanthella is a company specialised in the design and the manufacture of photobioreactors for the culture of photosynthetic cells like microalgae or cyanobacteria. Xanthella works with some of the finest research laboratories in Scotland to develop reliable, flexible and affordable PBR from lab to industrial scale. Xanthella’s photobioreactors provide perfectly controlled culture conditions (pH, temperature, light intensity, light dark cycle, mixing) to perform accurate research experiments and to produce a quality constant biomass. The affordability of our lab scale system, the microPharos PBRTM will help to boost and to speed up the research on the photosynthetic cells. It has been tested and validated our industrial 700L PBR, the Pandora PBRTM, has been developed in the frame of circular economy projects to use renewable energies directly where they are produced. Its low footprint and its internal LED light supply allow to reach high productivity in small area. It can be used for many applications from the production of food supplement or feed for aquaculture to the waste water treatment.
Xanthella was founded in 2009 by Dr Douglas McKenzie. It is located at Oban in the west coast of Scotland at the European Marine Science Park.
aquila biolabs is a German biotechnology start-up company focusing on the development of innovative laboratory devices for the automated biomass monitoring and feeding in shake flask cultures as well as bioreactors.
Our founding idea was a product for hassle-free biomass sensing, the Cell Growth Quantifier (CGQ). The CGQ is a sensor-based technology that offers highly parallelized, non-invasive online monitoring of biomass in shake flasks and other cultivation vessels. Now, this system can also be utilized for bioreactors with our newly developed CGQ BioR.
Our second product line, the Liquid Injection System (LIS), allows for automated feeding of liquids in shake flasks. This automated miniature pump is the first commercially available technology of its kind and can be used for a broad range of applications.
