Site visit to Solmeyea

Participants will have the invaluable opportunity for a site visit to Solmeyea, situated within the Demokritos premises, facilitating firsthand exploration and interaction of the demo plant facility. Besides the big glass photobioreactors, participants can see the fermentation process of growing algae.

Solmeyea is a Greek company unifying biotechnology and sustainability. Founded in 2019, with a mission to “inspire CO2 circularity” through emblematic collaborations with heavy CO2 emitting corporations by transforming their CO2 off-gases into valuable feedstock. The opportunities generated by their proprietary technology are limitless, from alternative proteins to SAF and maritime biofuels. Starting with a pilot plant in 2021, they have rapidly expanded to a pre-industrial facility, now producing 40 tons of premium food and cosmetics ingredients annually. Their unwavering commitment lies in making a positive impact on our planet, as they actively pursue a sustainable future through innovation and strategic partnerships.

Site visit to Plankton First

At Plankton First, they believe that phytoplankton is the origin of life, and their commitment to this principle drives every aspect of their work. Plankton First's holistic approach doesn’t just focus on production; they aim to set new standards in environmental stewardship, leveraging the complexity of phytoplankton to create high-quality, sustainable solutions for nutrition, energy, and more. This is your chance to explore the future of context-driven biotech innovation with them - where nature meets cutting-edge technology to foster a sustainable tomorrow. They look forward to welcoming you in the heart of a Natura2000 area to visit their 5Ha plant. They will be showcasing how Plankton First is leading the way in harnessing nature’s most powerful resources.
