Site visit to AquaBioTech Group

Friday, 11 December: 14:00 - 17:00 // LIMITED SPACES - REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Participants will have the opportunity to visit AquaBioTech Group’s headquarters in Malta, exploring its state-of-the-art aquaculture research, testing, and engineering facilities. The visit will showcase the company’s integrated approach to innovation in fish health, nutrition, and sustainable aquaculture systems.

The visit will begin with a brief company introduction and presentation of AquaBioTech Group’s ongoing research and innovation activities, followed by a guided tour of its research facilities and engineering department. Visitors will gain firsthand insight into how the company designs and delivers advanced RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture Systems) and IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture) projects implemented worldwide - from Japan to Kenya. During the site visit, participants will be guided through AquaBioTech Group’s research facilities, where ongoing work in fish nutrition and fish health is carried out in a controlled, highly specialised environment. The visit will provide insight into how aquaculture research is translated into practical applications, including feed formulation, nutritional trials, health challenges, and performance testing under real-world conditions.

Participants will learn how the team designs and runs research programmes to evaluate the effects of new feeds, ingredients, additives, and functional products on fish growth, welfare, and overall health. The visit will also highlight the company’s capacity to undertake fish health studies, including disease-related testing, biosecurity-focused research, and product validation for the aquaculture sector.

In addition, the tour will offer a closer look at the facilities used to support these trials, including the systems, equipment, and monitoring tools that ensure accuracy, consistency, and scientific integrity. This will give participants a better understanding of how AquaBioTech Group supports innovation in aquaculture through applied research, technical expertise, and close collaboration with industry partners.

A networking coffee break will follow the tour, offering time for informal discussions and exchange of ideas. The visit will conclude with a session on commercial and collaboration opportunities, an open Q&A, and a brief closing session.
